Karl arrived in Melbourne on a battered lumber ship after 87 days at sea — Christmas, New Year’s, and his 22nd birthday all spent aboard the Ivy. From there, he cycled through Victoria and New South Wales, faced Australia’s worst roads, and pushed north through Queensland, worn down but determined.
